Finn Maxwell passed away on May 19, 2025. Finn was the beloved son of Jason and Kirsten, and an amazing brother to Ronan and Gavin. He was born in San Diego, but moved to Lake Forest, Illinois on his first birthday, where he spent his formative years trying all the sports, learning guitar, and spending countless hours at the Lake Forest Library. The family moved to the Dallas area in 2019. Finn graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in 2023, after which he attended the University of Arkansas as an honors student.
In February of 2024, Finn was diagnosed with a rare cancer – alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Finn endured 39 of 42 rounds of chemotherapy and 28 sessions of radiation. Just before Thanksgiving, he developed gangrene, leading to multiple major surgeries and a prolonged hospital stay. During his recovery, and while off chemotherapy, new tumors appeared on his spinal cord, causing severe nerve impingement. This required emergency spinal surgery. Finn had to relearn how to walk, all while undergoing further radiation and chemotherapy. He spent close to five months in the hospital.
He came home on May 7th hoping to enjoy time with family and friends, but his time on Earth was cut short. We loved Finn beyond measure, as did many. He had the biggest heart, and was the sweetest, kindest, and most empathetic person many of us have ever known. We are devastated at his loss.
